Newsletter, December 2013

This has been an eventful and exciting year. So many of you have been involved in our activities. We want to thank you for this and celebrate our shared commitment to the common good.

Stepping Through Transitions Launch, September 2013

Over one hundred research and workshop participants, friends and colleagues from across the NFP sector and the university helped us launch our book in style on 11 September in the foyer of the Owen G. Glenn Building, University of Auckland Business School. It was great to see so many people reconnecting with one another, or being surprised by the multiple links we all share across diverse communities. Now our challenge is to get news of the book out to as many people as possible. Please help us by advertising the book through your networks and newsletter. You can buy copies using Paypal or credit card from www.cgotransitions.co.nz for $34 plus $5 postage and packaging.

UNITEC Graduate Diploma in NFP Management adopts text

Hilary Star Foged and her colleagues at the UNITEC Graduate Diploma programme have given the book a huge endorsement by adopting Stepping Through Transitions as a recommended text. Hilary says…. ." This is a unique opportunity to reflect on our practice, and develop our capacity, through the skills and experience of our own Aotearoa people. This is why our Graduate Diploma teaching team have adopted Stepping through Transitions as a 'textbook' for the programme. This book is practical, accessible and inspiring."

Overseas endorsements and opportunities

Through links with the Global Organization Design Society, the book has been favourably reviewed by academics and practitioners in UK, Canada and USA. Please see our website www.cgotransitions.co.nz/book-reviews for details. Judith and Ljiljana are invited to present a workshop for non-profit organisations at their bi-annual conference in New York in August 2014. The workshop will promote the CGO Development Model formulated in the book.

2013 Stepping Through Transitions Workshops

This year we offered five workshops to build development skills through the CGO Development Model. We like to work with partner organisations wherever possible. This way we can tailor workshops to specific transitional or regional needs. The Bishop’s Action Foundation hosted one Managing Change in Small Organisations workshop in New Plymouth; Community Waitakere supported us in Te Atatu, Auckland. We offered New Perspectives on Managing, Leading and Governing workshops in September in Christchurch and in May and September in Auckland. This year, 69 people from 39 organisations applied the CGO Development model to their own situations in our workshops.
